Sign up now to create an account. Just like every other landing page builder, you won’t fully get the Instapage experience until you register your account. As soon as you log in, you’ll first notice your dashboard, where you’ll find a full overview of how much progress you’ll be making. You won’t see much on your dashboard because this is your first attempt. It’s okay, you’ll learn how to create your own landing page. Let’s get started!
Building a Landing Page from Scratch
Click on “Landing pages” in the left-side menu of your dashboard and then click “Create Page”. Once you hit the button, you’ll instantly be greeted by a vast collection of around 200 landing page templates, each of which you can use and customize however you like for whatever you want to promote.
You’ll also be given the option to start with a blank page without any template or design (Blank Page), but that’s up to you if you think you have experience in building websites. However, since many of you are reading this and will use it for the first time, we’ll construct a full landing page using existing page templates for the sake of this tutorial.
You have many options to choose from depending on the purpose of your campaign. Select the Use case filter to see a list of available templates. There are many templates that you can choose from. One template is designed to encourage users to download your app (App Download), another one to sign people up for an event (Event registration) or one to thank them for buying your product/service. No matter the use case, Instapage has a template all set for you to use.
Now, let’s say we’re building a landing page to launch a product. What should you do? To start, you can pick “Product launch” from the use case filter, then select one of the multiple themes that will come up in the search results. A page preview will be displayed to you as you select the landing page design you feel best fits your product. This preview will give you an idea of the final product when it is made available to the public.
Then, it’s up to you whether you’re going to use it or not. You can always go back to the beginning and look at the layout until you find it perfect. Otherwise, if you like it, then you can click “Use this layout.” After you have chosen the landing page design you will need to give it a name to help keep things organized.
Customizing Your Landing Page
With your chosen page layout now ready to go, the next step is to customize it according to your liking. You’ll be immediately redirected to the Instapage page builder, which happens to be one of my all-time favorites coming from the platform (an opinion that, surprisingly, everyone agrees!). In this stage, you have the opportunity to make your landing page more visually appealing and engaging. The best part of it all is that you don’t need to do any of the work since Instapage does it for you.
Instapage Builder allows you to drag and drop elements anywhere on the page. This is in contrast to WordPress, which may allow you to try pulling any element but it will be locked in a row or column and cannot move at all. Instead, how it works can simply be compared to that of the Photoshop interface – you won’t ever see the elements you’re dragging get locked all of a sudden, so indeed, you have the freedom to move your mouse and drag-and-drop however you like.
While the ability to drag and drop may feel more Photoshop-like, the rest of the Builder’s interface should be in some ways familiar, especially to those who’ve used the WordPress editor in the past. You’ll find a full set of elements, widgets, and forms within your reach, and once you click on any of them, you can add as many tweaks as possible to make your landing page more presentable.

That’s because every single one of its templates is automatically optimized for mobile use. Just like with editing the desktop version, you can conceal certain elements or even whole blocks from those who will go to your landing page using their smartphones.

Meanwhile, Global Blocks work similarly to Instablocks – the only difference between the two is that the design and layout of the former are specific to one page.
