Sign up now to create an account. You won’t be able to fully experience Instapage until you sign up. As soon as you log in, you’ll first notice your dashboard, where you’ll find a full overview of how much progress you’ll be making. You won’t see much on your dashboard because this is your first attempt. It’s okay, you’ll learn how to create your own landing page. Let’s get started!
From scratch, you can build a landing page
Click on “Landing pages” in the left-side menu of your dashboard and then click “Create Page”. Once you hit the button, you’ll instantly be greeted by a vast collection of around 200 landing page templates, each of which you can use and customize however you like for whatever you want to promote.
You’ll also be given the option to start with a blank page without any template or design (Blank Page), but that’s up to you if you think you have experience in building websites. We will build a landing page from scratch using templates that are already in use, as many people are reading this tutorial.
You have many options to choose from depending on the purpose of your campaign. Select the Use case filter to see a list of available templates. You may find a template that’s designed to convince users to download your app (App download), one geared toward signing people up for an upcoming event (Event registration), or one that’s made to simply thank them for purchasing your product/service (Thank you). No matter the use case, Instapage has a template all set for you to use.
Let’s suppose we are creating a landing page for launching a product. What are you going to do in this situation? To start, you can pick “Product launch” from the use case filter, then select one of the multiple themes that will come up in the search results. A page preview will be displayed to you as you select the landing page design you feel best fits your product. This is to give you a taste of your end product once it’s published to the public online.
Then, it’s up to you whether you’re going to use it or not. You can always go back to the beginning and look at the layout until you find it perfect. If you love it, you can click “Use that layout.” Once you’ve chosen your landing page design, you’ll need to come up with a name as a way to keep things in order.
Customizing Your Landing Page
Now that you have your page layout, it is time to personalize it to your liking. You’ll be immediately redirected to the Instapage page builder, which happens to be one of my all-time favorites coming from the platform (an opinion that, surprisingly, everyone agrees!). In this stage, you have the opportunity to make your landing page more visually appealing and engaging. Instapage takes care of everything for you.
Instapage Builder allows you to drag and drop elements anywhere on the page. This is in contrast to WordPress, which may allow you to try pulling any element but it will be locked in a row or column and cannot move at all. It works in a similar way to the Photoshop interface. You won’t see any elements you drag get locked, so you can move your mouse around and drag-and drop as you please.
While the ability to drag and drop may feel more Photoshop-like, the rest of the Builder’s interface should be in some ways familiar, especially to those who’ve used the WordPress editor in the past. There are many elements, widgets and forms available to you. Once you click on one of them, you can make any changes you want to your landing page.
Adding Elements and Making Modifications
You can add and rearrange visual elements to your Instapage Builder experience. Additionally, you can add interactive features like surveys and text box forms to help capture user data easily while keeping them engaged. In Instapage terms, a set of elements grouped is called a block. You can add elements and make a few notable adjustments to a block. You can also copy, duplicate, or even delete it if you wish. This is just how to create a block. If you don’t have enough time or confidence in your page-building skills you can always use the Instapage Builder’s block templates.
You’ll notice the preview for a landing page you create is designed for desktop. Instapage makes it easy to create a mobile-friendly version. Every template is optimized for mobile use. You can hide certain elements, or entire blocks, just like you could with the desktop version. This is useful for those who visit your landing page via their smartphones.
With this life-saving feature, you won’t need to go too far to the point where you’ll have two completely different page versions. This is how you can make your landing page attractive and effective for marketing your products or service.

Now comes the crucial part. Now you need to publish your page to make it available to your audience. Publishing a landing page is an important step in the process of creating success in whatever you’re promoting, whether it’s a product or a service. While you can add certain elements to create a block within a page, you get the added benefit of being able to save and reuse it whenever you want to create another page. To further cut the time spent on building landing pages in half, you can save the blocks you made yourself as Instablocks, which you can implement when you create other pages in future projects. Meanwhile, Global Blocks work similarly to Instablocks – the only difference between the two is that the design and layout of the former are specific to one page. The Global Blocks look consistent across all pages. This means if you edit a Global Block on one page, all the changes will be reflected on the same block built into other pages. This can be very useful if you have a section on your website that you wish to be consistent across pages, such as a header, footer or footer. You can disable this feature if you wish.
