I’ll show you the rest later on in the article, but for now, since we have a general idea of what it is, it would be nice if I take you through a hands-on look at what it’s like to use this landing page builder for the first time.
Sign up now to create an account. Just like every other landing page builder, you won’t fully get the Instapage experience until you register your account. Once you log in, your dashboard will appear. This is where you can see a complete overview of the progress you are making. You won’t see much on your dashboard because this is your first attempt. It’s okay, you’ll learn how to create your own landing page. Let’s get started!
Building a Landing Page from Scratch
Click on “Landing pages” in the left-side menu of your dashboard and then click “Create Page”. Once you hit the button, you’ll instantly be greeted by a vast collection of around 200 landing page templates, each of which you can use and customize however you like for whatever you want to promote.
You’ll also be given the option to start with a blank page without any template or design (Blank Page), but that’s up to you if you think you have experience in building websites. However, since many of you are reading this and will use it for the first time, we’ll construct a full landing page using existing page templates for the sake of this tutorial.
You have many options to choose from depending on the purpose of your campaign. Select the Use case filter to see a list of available templates. You may find a template that’s designed to convince users to download your app (App download), one geared toward signing people up for an upcoming event (Event registration), or one that’s made to simply thank them for purchasing your product/service (Thank you). Instapage has a template for every use case.
Now, let’s say we’re building a landing page to launch a product. What are you going to do in this situation? You can start by selecting “Product Launch” from the filter. Next, choose one of the themes that will appear in the search results. As you pick the landing page design that you think looks good for what you’re aiming to promote, you’ll be welcomed by a quick page preview. This preview will give you an idea of the final product when it is made available to the public.
Then, it’s up to you whether you’re going to use it or not. If, for some reason, you don’t vibe with the layout, and you can always go back and skim through until you find the perfect fit. If you love it, you can click “Use that layout.” After you have chosen the landing page design you will need to give it a name to help keep things organized.
Customizing Your Landing Page
Now that you have your page layout, it is time to personalize it to your liking. You’ll be immediately redirected to the Instapage page builder, which happens to be one of my all-time favorites coming from the platform (an opinion that, surprisingly, everyone agrees!). This stage allows you to enhance the visual appeal and engagement of your landing page. The best part of it all is that you don’t need to do any of the work since Instapage does it for you.
Within the Instapage Builder, you can very easily drag and drop elements within the page anywhere you want, unlike the WordPress version, where you could try to pull any element, only for it to be locked in a certain row/column and not move entirely. Instead, how it works can simply be compared to that of the Photoshop interface – you won’t ever see the elements you’re dragging get locked all of a sudden, so indeed, you have the freedom to move your mouse and drag-and-drop however you like.
Although drag-and-drop may seem more Photoshop-like than the rest of Builder’s interface, it should still feel familiar to anyone who has used the WordPress editor before. There are many elements, widgets and forms available to you. Once you click on one of them, you can make any changes you want to your landing page.

Instapage’s Other Notable Features
Instablocks and Global Blocks
You can add elements to create blocks within pages, but you also have the benefit of being able save it and reuse it whenever you need to make another page. To further cut the time spent on building landing pages in half, you can save the blocks you made yourself as Instablocks, which you can implement when you create other pages in future projects. Global Blocks, on the other hand, work in the same way as Instablocks. The only difference is that they are specific to one page. At the same time, the latter looks consistent even across multiple pages that have it included. If you make changes to a Global Block on a page, they will reflect on any other blocks. This can be very useful if you have a section on your website that you wish to be consistent across pages, such as a header, footer or footer. You can disable this feature if you wish.
